Rustik Cafe and Foodstore on Bridge St is much more than a typical cafe.

Rustik Cafe and Foodstore on Bridge St is much more than a typical cafe.

If you want a quick take-away coffee and cake, no problem, however, Rustik offers much more besides.

Owner Julie Brown operates the family business with her mother Ida.

They pride themselves on their menu, which offers a variety of dietary options.

‘‘What sets us aside from other cafes is we have meals and snacks available for people with different food intolerances,’’ Julie said.

‘‘We do a lot of vegan food, we cater to coeliac diets, we have separate coeliac fryers. We offer gluten and dairy-free meals, and have options for people on a paleo diet.

‘‘We have a massive range of cakes and coffee, which people on a coeliac diet can enjoy, and 90 per cent of our menu is either gluten free or can be made gluten free.

‘‘We still offer great naughty treats if you want a sugar hit, but if someone wants to come in and try something with less sugar they can.’’

Rustik is open seven days a week from 7am to 5pm, except for public holidays.

‘‘Our kitchen is open from 7am to 4pm, so you can get a cooked meal all day,’’ Julie said.

‘‘We also have a local produce section. Most of what we sell there is also used to make the snacks and meals on our menu.

‘‘So if someone wants to try some of our produce they can, or if they like the dressing we use on our salads, for example, they can buy a bottle.

‘‘We also have a range of giftware such as salt-lamps, they’ve been very popular.’’
