Tocumwal Golf & Bowls Club played host to a group of about 50 bowlers from Mulgrave Country Club for their 16th annual visit last week.
The Mulgrave visitors arrived for a dinner on Sunday night before the start of three days of bowling.
The two clubs battled it out with fours in the morning and triples in the afternoon on the Monday.
Following the fours on Tuesday morning Tocumwal was in front of Mulgrave. But by the end of the triples in the afternoon, the visitors had taken over the lead.
The heavens opened up on the third day of play, finishing the tournament early with Mulgrave taking home the trophy for a third year in a row.
Monday was the club’s last ladies day for the season and the Canadian pairs final was won by Effie Eaton and Beryl McFarlane over Lois Bird and Nola Patterson on the last end. A fitting way to end season 2017-2018.
The club will reconvene in September for its regular ladies social days.
In the meantime mixed social bowls will continue to be played each Saturday at noon.
Names must be in by midday with anyone welcome to join.
It was a cold and wet day for the Mulgrave Club visit for social bowl on Thursday.
Only one game was played, with the balance of the program being abandoned.
Winning team from the day was Graeme Chubb, Gloria Molinara and John Page.
Despite the conditions the visitors were happy and it was a good day to renew the friendships that have been created during past visits from Mulgrave.
The group have visited this area for many years and it is hoped they include Finley Club on their itinerary for 2019.
Ash Haines and Nan Smith have won the mixed pairs championship after defeating Gordon Haines and Tracey Miles.
Marie Koschel and Graeme Chubb formed the winning team on Sunday with +3 shots.
Thank you to Nan for her flower arrangement for the lady bowlers to celebrate Mother’s Day.
The annual presentation of trophies event will be held following bowls and then a barbecue lunch this Saturday.
All bowlers, and trophy winners, are requested to wear the club uniform.
