More than half-a-million Victorians have taken up the new short-term vehicle registration options.
Since short-term registrations were introduced in January, 3239 people in Moira Shire have signed up to three or six-month registration options.
The choices are relieving financial pressure on families and providing a boost to household budgets.
Across Victoria, more than 24000 people are signing up to the short-term vehicle registrations each week.
Of the eligible vehicle owners who have opted for the budget friendly short-term registration options, 51 per cent have selected the three-month option and 49 per cent have chosen six months.
The flexible payment option is proving most popular with the 26 to 35-year age group.
Owners of cars, utes, vans, motorcycles and other light vehicles can switch to shorter term registration or continue with an annual registration fee by creating a myVicRoads account.
Creating a myVicRoads online account will allow owners to choose and receive electronic reminders when registration is due.
Under the arrangements, an average three-month registration costs $171.60, while an average six-month registration costs $343.20, compared to an average annual fee of $686.40.
