WOMEN serving on boards or committees of management across Victoria should apply for a scholarship to boost their skills, Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh has said.
Applications are now open for the Victorian Women’s Board Leadership Program — an initiative that strengthens the governance of boards by funding opportunities for women to expand their board skills.
“The scholarship program is being run in partnership with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD),” Mr Walsh said.
“It provides eligible women governance training, mentoring and networking to advance their board careers.”
Mr Walsh said he appreciated the importance of encouraging more women to take on board leadership roles in rural and regional Victoria.
“I strongly support and encourage women across the Murray Plains electorate to take up this opportunity to boost their board skills and enhance their opportunities to network with other emerging women leaders,” he said.
“This really is a wonderful training opportunity.”
To be eligible, the applicant must live in Victoria and have experience on a board or committee of management.
Current board directors must be serving on a Victorian Government board or a not-for-profit board.
Applications will close on June 22 and the program will commence in October 2018.
