The next Lleyton Hewitt or Ash Barty could be in the making at Benalla P-12 College.
The prep students at the Waller St campus have received 60 new tennis racquets thanks to ANZ Tennis Hot Shots.
Physical education teacher Vanessa Neilson said the students would get a racquet each to take home.
‘‘I just want to thank the ANZ Hot Shot Program for allowing us to be partners,’’ Vanessa said.
The ANZ Tennis Hot Shots and Tennis Australia’s School Partnership Program aims to help students learn tennis as part of their health and physical education.
The initiative has already seen 80000 racquets delivered since January 2015, with another 30000 to be delivered this year.
Twenty-two-time Grand Slam champion Todd Woodbridge is proud of its success so far.
‘‘The ANZ racquet initiative is a fantastic way to introduce and inspire more kids to play tennis,’’ Woodbridge said. ‘‘For them to take a racquet home means that tennis is always within their reach and helps kids to develop healthy habits that keep them fit and active.’’
Keep an eye out this summer for Benalla’s tiny tennis stars.
