The Lions Club of Benalla, Moorngag Hall, Benalla and District Memorial Hospital and the Greta Valley Landcare Group are just a few of the local organisations who have successfully received volunteer grants.
Federal Member for Indi Cathy McGowan welcomed the announcement that 35 organisations across Indi have been successful under the Volunteer Grants 2018 program.
‘‘Volunteers play such an important role in helping build strong and resilient communities,’’ Ms McGowan said.
‘‘They give generously of their time in so many areas; in sporting clubs, landcare groups, neighbourhood houses and service clubs.
‘‘I congratulate the groups who have received grants, which are part of the Federal Government’s program to support and encourage volunteering in local communities.’’
The grants may be used to help purchase small equipment items, contribute towards the cost of training courses and help reimburse volunteers for the cost of their fuel and transport.
Local groups who received funding include:
●Lions Club of Benalla Inc. $5000;
●Moorngag Public Hall and Recreation Reserve $4700;
●Benalla & District Memorial Hospital $4600; and
●Greta Valley Landcare Group Incorporated $1980.
