CAMPASPE Shire Council has adopted three new policies to prevent bullying inside the organisation and between councillors and to promote gender equality.
Policies Cr Leigh Wilson believes will create a better workplace.
‘‘One where people not only want to work but can do so in a safe environment with equal opportunity,’’ he said at the recent meeting.
Together the policies are designed to prevent and eliminate any form of bullying, discrimination, harassment, and sexual harassment in the workplace and provide equal opportunity.
‘‘All employees and councillors have a responsibility to respect the rights of one another to promote diversity, inclusion, safety and equal opportunity,’’ the bullying and equal opportunity policy reads.
‘‘Council has zero tolerance for confirmed breaches of this policy and associated procedure.’’
Council also adopted one new council procedure and revoked two council policies.
