Eastern Hill and Yea win

By Seymour Telegraph

Avenel v Yea Tigers

Yea Tigers needed just 30 overs to comfortably account for Avenel in their round five clash on Saturday.

Avenel won the toss and elected to bat on its home turf, but was bundled out before reaching triple figures.

Avenel was dismissed for just 93, with Luke Smith doing the bulk of the damage with four wickets.

Smith’s tidy 4-11 in 3.4 overs was backed up by Marc Steiner’s 2-16 and captain Ben Tarran’s 2-10.

A 71-run opening stand from Steiner and Tarran helped Yea Tigers reach the target with seven wickets in hand.

Steiner was dismissed just four runs shy of his half-century by Max Lawrence, while Tarran was run out on 21 runs.

Yea Tigers now occupy third spot on the ladder, while Avenel sits in fourth.

Kilmore v Eastern Hill

Eastern Hill retained a top-two spot on the ladder with a thrilling win against Kilmore, taking the last two wickets in the final over to win by eight runs.

Batting first, Eastern Hill clocked up the respectable total of 163, and looked to be in the driver’s seat after having Kilmore 4-10 early on.

But a patient Ashley Lovick (42), Elliot Frendo (48) and Ben Trezise (43 not out) brought Kilmore back in to the game to set up the thrilling finish, before number 11 Connor Mcleod (3) was given out LBW to end Kilmore’s innings on 155.
