Women’s golf

It was a lovely day for golf on Wednesday to start the summer season, which drew a good field of players.

The day’s competition was the last Monthly Medal for the year.

A-grade was a hard-fought competition, with Robyn Downs finishing on 70 nett, to come out on top.

Robyn now shares December’s medal honour with her husband Michael who won the men’s event last Saturday.

Thanks to Drummond Golf and Newton’s Parcel Service for their fantastic sponsorship of the day.

Terri Wangeman was runner-up on a count-back from Bev Roberts with 71 nett.

Wilma Saunders also had a day out with 70 nett to win B-grade.

Runner-up was Francie Mark with 77 nett.

Balls down the line went to Bev Roberts, Colleen Johns, Deb Reilly (75) and Jan Coe 77 on a count-back.

The nine-hole competition was won by Pat Serra on her first game back with nett 36 and runner-up was Helen Williams with nett 37.

Nearest-the-pin on the third for the Gallery Café voucher was won by Liz Mulcahy.

Nearest-the-pin on the sixth for the Tatura Hot Bread voucher was Lois Rogers; and on the ninth for the Café Alofa voucher was Bev Roberts.

Di Day took the One4One breakfast voucher for nearest-the-pin on the 14th.

The draw for the Summer Four-Ball knockout has been posted on the notice board.

First round is to be played by December 23.

Summer 4BBB Pennant: Congratulations to Shepparton Golf Club which defeated Tocumwal 2 in the South versus North final played at Rich River last Monday.

Wednesday’s event: December is Captain’s choice, Par 3 Stroke, 8.30am for 9am hit-off.

Following play, all past and present players are welcome to enjoy Christmas lunch from the bistro at a cost of $25/head. It will be a Christmas fun day. Time to get dressed in your Chrissy best, and decorate your carts and buggies in red, white and green.

Christmas celebrations will also include a visit from Santa and his elf so please bring a Kris Kringle present to the value of $10 to put in Santa’s sack.
