Two new Mulwala Aussies

By Robert Muir

Two Mulwala residents who moved to town four years ago, and originally from different parts of the world, formally became Australian citizens on May 21, 2019.

An Australian Citizenship Ceremony was conducted by Federation Council Mayor Pat Bourke at council’s latest monthly meeting for Lai (Summer) Yin Lai and Bharat (Mick) Sharma.

Summer, 36, moved to Australia from Hong Kong in 2012, is married to Ian and the pair has a 20-month-old daughter Ebony. Summer works in Corowa, at Rivalea.

Thirty-one-year-old Mick moved to Australia in 2008, from India and he manages the BP Service Station in Melbourne Street.

Both new Aussies love their Mulwala town and family members witnessed the citizenship ceremony.

Following the ceremony, it was a delicious morning tea with councillors of Federation Council where Summer and Mick were congratulated accordingly.
