MVCA premier division wrap | Round 10

By Tyler Maher

Adam De Cicco produced a stirring all-round performance to lift Cobram back up to the top of the Murray Valley Cricket Association's premier division table.

De Cicco started his efforts at Cobram Showgrounds with bat in hand, hitting 58 of his side's 6-199 against Nathalia to put the Tigers in a strong position.

The quick then rolled through his nine overs with ball in hand to snare 3-26 and help dismiss the Purples for 153 in reply.

Lachie Hyde was also in great touch for the Tigers as the young opener made 45 before being run out, while Tyron Baden (31 not out) and Wian Van Zyl (22) also chimed in with solid knocks.

Mark Haberfield's 3-13 proved the best bowling figures for the home side as Hyde, Baden, Jack Beasley and Nic Hoban also snared wickets.

Brayden Summerville and Brodie Ross had earlier claimed two poles apiece for the Purples.

Tocumwal gave Barooga an early scare on Saturday in the round 10 clash, sending the Hawks in at Barooga Recreation Reserve and striking a number of blows.

Both openers for the home side returned to the pavilion without troubling the scorers and, while Riley Gow (37) and Jamie Stanyer (14) were able to put on some quick runs, the Hawks still found themselves 5-73 and in trouble before long.

Matt Jaensch and Justin Maley were in no mood to be involved in a collapse though, compiling an unbeaten partnership of 139 to take the game away from the Bloods and lift Barooga to 5-212.

Jaensch's 53 not out came from 98 deliveries, with Maley's unbeaten 69 put together off 81 balls.

The Bloods lost regular wickets in the chase and were all-out for 91 as Saranjit Kalsi (3-33), Zeke Bunge (3-21) and Jake Poole (3-20) ripped through the batting order.

Chris Shaw (3-32) and Rahul Thakur (18) provided the most cause for celebration for the Bloods with ball and bat respectively.

Katamatite had a comfortable win against Cobram-Yarroweyah United, chasing down the combine's 90 with eight wickets to spare.

Kieran Andrew's 20 was the top score for United.
