Roos face Blues in prelim

By Jamie Lowe

The Deni Rovers' A grade side will face a tough challenge in their Picola & District League title defence, having to overcome Picola United to move on to the decider.

The stage is set for a thrilling clash, with both sides travelling to Strathmerton for the preliminary final tomorrow.

United pulled off a 19-goal upset against Katamatite in last weekend’s semi-final and has now won three straight games, carrying brilliant form into the season’s penultimate weekend.

The Roos are coming off an upset of their own after flogging minor premier Tocumwal by 27 goals in the qualifying final, also on a streak of three wins in a row.

Deni will be keen to atone for their 52-47 round 10 loss to the Blues on their quest for back-to-back flags.

The match will be played at Strathmerton Recreation Reserve at 2pm.

It will be a busy weekend for the Rovers' netball department with six of their seven teams aiming to earn a spot in the grand final.

The C grade Roos will have the unenviable task of facing an undefeated Berrigan side, while Deni's C reserve side will face minor premier Rennie at Strathmerton tomorrow.

The Under 17s will head into their preliminary final with confidence, after knocking off a previously undefeated Strathmerton by one goal in their qualifying final.

They will meet Picola United at Strathmerton tomorrow.

The Under 15s and Under 13s Rovers will both come up against rival Blighty this weekend.

The Under 15s match will see the Roos have a home court advantage against the Redeyes on Sunday.

It was Blighty who won by two goals when the two sides last met at Memorial Park however, so it promises to be an absolute thriller.

The Under 13s match will be played at Strathmerton tomorrow.

The Roos and the Redeyes have traded wins this season, with Blighty winning by two goals in round two, while the Roos won their most recent encounter by nine goals.
