Matthew Pridham will lead the way for Mathoura Football Netball Club in the 2020 Picola & District League season, being elected as president at the club’s recent annual general meeting.
Pridham first took over as president from Melyssa Banks during the 2019 season.
The AGM saw all positions filled, with former president Tim McCormick set to help out Pridham as senior vice president.
Other board members for the club are as follows: Junior vice president - Barb Cox; treasurer - Kylie Atkinson; secretary - Nicole McCormick.
The meeting also saw plenty of volunteers jump on board for the general committee with Mark Eddy, Peter Cockayne, Brendan Unwin, Ian Keech, Blake Keech, Jarrod Thomas, Jesse Pridham, Darcy Robinson and Liv Brownfield all putting their hand up to help.
Pridham said he decided to renominate as president as he had some unfinished business from 2019.
‘‘We had a fair bit of success on and off the field this year, so we’re looking to build on that,’’ he said.
‘‘There was a good vibe at the club before the end of the season where we managed to make finals.
‘‘We didn’t stick around in finals for long but we got there, which will hopefully be a big stepping stone to some more success.
‘‘It’s also pleasing to have the committee locked in early this year.
‘‘Previously it’s been left after Christmas and we’ve been scrambling to get a committee together, so this is a nice change.’’
The club also have announced they will have Jarrod Thomas step up to be the MFNC netball coordinator for next year.
Pridham said the addition of the role will make game day run smoothly in 2020.
‘‘Jarrod brings many years of netball experience along with a successful and positive attitude,’’ Pridham said.
‘‘His mission is to direct and assist our junior and senior netballers to reach their full potential with a positive outlook and to help everyone enjoy being part of the MFNC family.
‘‘We have previously had the president watch over both football and netball, however we decided we needed someone else as it was a lot of work for one person.
‘‘We wanted to have someone dedicated to address all the issues in our netballing department and to give the support that is required.
‘‘Jarrod was over at the netball for the majority of this year and is the perfect person to oversee it all.
‘‘We look forward to kicking off the new season with fresh ideas and many new faces around the club.’’
