Finley Ladies tee off for cancer research

By Southern Riverina News

The Finley Golf course is expected to be a sea of pink next Wednesday, August 19 when the ladies hold their annual “Tee Off for Breast Cancer Trials” fundraising event.

Organiser Joanne Dean has been involved in raising funds for breast cancer for many years, following the passing of her mother with the condition.

Breast Cancer Trials is a group of world-leading breast cancer doctors and researchers based in Australia and New Zealand with a commitment to find better treatments and prevention, through clinical trials research, for people affected by breast cancer.

The organisation is on a mission for people affected by this form of cancer to live better, to live longer and to never die from breast cancer.

The event taking place is a three person teams event sponsored by Finley Bakery and Patisserie.

It is not necessary to have a full team; organisers are happy to place single entries for this fun day.

This can be done by phoning Joanne Dean on 0488 115 076 or ladies captain Sharon Pyle on 0418 882 265.

There are lots of surprises to be put in place on the day so make sure you enter and participate in the fun while supporting this great fundraiser.

Tai Chi in Memorial Park has a slight change as from next week.

As from August 20, Thursdays will be held at 11am followed by light lunch or coffee for those who wish to attend.

Mondays’ session will still be held in the afternoon beginning at 2pm

Please let Veronica know if you would like to join in by calling 0413 678 389.

Should the weather be unkind, either wet, cold or both, Tai Chi will not be held; however, you can still join the group at the RS Club for coffee at 11am.

New members are always welcome.

The cold, wet and miserable conditions last Saturday led to an executive decision being made by the Finley Lions Club members rostered on for the day to give the wood raffle a miss.

However, they expect to be up and running again next Saturday and are looking forward to the usual amazing community support.

Residents of Finley are advised that a mobile clinic for COVID-19 (Coronavirus) will be visiting Finley from 11am to 12.45pm at Finley Hospital this Friday.

Residents can drop in on the day or make an appointment by calling the Murrumbidgee COVID-19 hotline on 1800 831 099.

The advice is, if you have symptoms, please get tested.

Most common symptoms include fever and dry cough.
