Limited flu vaccinations available

Campaspe Shire Council will be offering free flu vaccinations from this week to young children (aged 6 months to under 5 years), residents over 65 years and eligible ‘at risk’ people only.

Acting regulatory and community services general manager, Kate Lemon said Council is continuing to make adjustments to immunisation sessions following direction from the Federal Government around gatherings of people to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

“It is important that during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic Council supports the community by providing this essential service, while changing how they are delivered to protect both the community and staff,” Ms Lemon said.

All immunisation sessions are now by appointment only with additional services added prior to Easter.

Flu vaccinations will be available at the sessions below:

Thursday, April 2 – young children Echuca Stadium, High Street 9 – 11am

Thursday, April 2 – young children Stanhope Community Health Centre 1 – 2pm

Thursday, April 2 – young children Rochester Community House 5 – 6.30pm

Wednesday, April 8 – Over 65 and at risk Echuca Stadium, High Street 9am – 12 noon

Thursday, April 9 – Over 65 and at risk Kyabram Stadium, Allan Street 2 – 4pm

“We are keeping sessions for children separate to older and at risk residents to reduce the risk of potential infection,” Ms Lemon said.

At the moment, flu vaccinations will only be offered at immunisation sessions to children aged 6 months to under 5 years, over 65s and eligible ‘at risk’ residents. At risk includes pregnant women and those with significant health issues.

“Flu vaccinations for residents between the ages of 5 to 65 are not yet available. We will advise the community as soon as we receive stock.”

“With the ever changing landscape of the current pandemic, we are taking things one step at a time. Immunisation sessions for May and beyond will be advised in the coming month.”

Details of arrangements for immunisation sessions will be updated through Council’s COVID-19 webpages at
