Tori Glass dazzles to bring in 2020

By Brayden May

KYABRAM equestrian star Tori Glass arguably could not have asked for a better end to her 2019.

After a year that included several trophies across the year, Glass ensured her festive period was a happy one as her horses performed as strongly as they had all year.

In the penultimate event at Wandin Park in the Yarra Valley, Glass had five different horses in action through an intense three days of competition.

Young horse Cookie stepped up to complete her first official 105 event in the main ring, while Connie placed third in two warm-up classes and a super double clear to be seventh out of 90 horses.

And Bonnie Valley Nobuck Boris continued his great year with a fifth-placed finish in a hotly contested 120 class, with under two seconds separating first and sixth.

Glass continued on her busy schedule between Christmas and the New Year when she traveled to Mount Gambier for the Junior and Young Rider Classic Show.

And while on the road, Glass received a massive shock when she received an email to say she had been selected in the Victorian team for the 120 class.

The news only made Glass hungrier for success as she started the competition on a winning note on Connie, before following it up with a second-placed finish with Boris in his first event, before earning two more second places and a fourth.

Cookies again stepped up to the plate to compete in the 110 class for the first time.

In the speed class, Glass was unable to follow on her success from 2018, losing out to the previous year's runner-up.

But on the team front, it proved to be a successful event for the Victorians, who finished on top for the first time in several years after accumulating the most points throughout the three days of competition.

Meanwhile, they finished second in the 120 class behind South Australia.

Glass will now turn her attention to the Equestrian Victoria State Titles at Werribee in March.

She would like to thank Liam Atkins Farrier Service, Clancy Family, Dr Liz Lester, Mr Embroidery and Reflex Sports and Massage for their continued support.
