Putting family first at OLSH

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School

AT OUR Lady of the Sacred Heart School, we support students to become resilient and independent learners by enhancing our relationships with families and the greater community.

There are many opportunities provided to students outside the classroom to reach their potential and this can happen due to the strong partnerships the school has with all parents and friends.

Students participate in a number of activities with the Campaspe Cluster of small schools.

This enables students to enjoy learning with children from a variety of areas; some they are familiar with and many that they form new friendships with during the years.

There are opportunities such as sporting events, camps, science activities and cultural events just to name a few.

Friendships fostered through these interactions often continue through to secondary schooling.

Transition is a big part of semester two at OLSH.

Opening the school each Friday morning to children that are preparing to make the transition to primary school through the ‘Stepping into School’ program, fondly known as Little Chevies, supports the mixed emotions experienced by both parents and children during this time.

Once term four begins, transition involves the whole school, with students moving into their 2020 class for two hours on a Friday morning.

Transition opportunities are also offered to Grade 6 students moving onto secondary school whether that be in Bendigo or Rochester.

OLSH values the partnership with parents and is grateful for the interest and support received from parents, friends and the Elmore community.

We are thrilled to be able to participate in fundraising opportunities such as the Elmore Charity Ball, Elmore Field Days catering and rubbish collection and also to support the senior citizens for their birthday celebrations. Money raised goes back to the students and in making sure that their learning environment, inside and outside, is engaging, safe and welcoming for all.
