ROCHESTER Hospital Auxilary’s Open Gardens event last week proved a huge success, raising $2893 in support of REDHS.

The garden enthusiasts and social butterflies of Rochester and district toured four very different gardens, graciously opened for display by the owners.

The day was closed out with tea and a raffle, with prizes donated by Mitre 10 and Nichol Trading.

Auxilary president Maureen Leahy said the money raised would go towards better equipment and facilities for REDHS and its staff.

“The money we raised was unbelievable. And the people that went to the gardens all really enjoyed themselves,” she said.

“The auxiliary would also like to thank Christine Wright from Mitre 10 Garden Supplies … she was the hard worker that got it all together.”

Raffle winners:

Russ Phipps (voucher – Mitre 10)

Pam and Mark (pink rose - Mitre 10)

Marj Dingwall (pot plant – Mitre 10)

Alex Logie (wine – Nichol Trading)
