New president for Hill Top women’s golf

By Tatura Guardian

A 4BBB aggregate nine-hole competition, sponsored by Viberts Mitre 10 of Tatura, was played prior to the annual meeting. The shorter game was appreciated by the players as they battled against the gusty winds.

Roylyn Harris and Lois Rogers scored well to win the day with 44 points. Runners-up were Sue Turnbull and Robyn Butler with 40 points.

Ball winners: Jan Coe/Janette Hayward 39, Terri Wangeman/Joyce Tavener and Judy Baker/Chris Beard 37 points.

The one nearest to the pin on the 14th was won with a close shot by Roylyn Harris, sponsored by One-4-One Café.

Following lunch, the annual meeting was conducted at 1pm. Joan Hill presided over the election of office bearers.

President Francie Mark, who has served her two years, will be vice president to the incoming president Liz Mulcahy.

Francie has been an active, generous and all-encompassing president who made new members welcome and others happy, with her friendly disposition.

Liz is aware she has big shoes to fill, but we are confident she will bring her own special talents to the position. Bev Roberts comes in as captain, relieving Terri Wangeman of the position.

Terri has served Hill Top as president, captain and a committee member across 15 years and will take a well deserved rest.

Large bouquets of roses provided by Sue Turnbull, were presented to Terri and outgoing committee member Rita Fairchild in appreciation of their dedication to their positions.

Robyn Downs will assist Bev as vice-captain. New member Robyn Butler has accepted the position of secretary/treasurer, relieving Kerry Gross who will continue to serve on committee.

Pennant: The team travelled to Mooroopna last Monday, but the elusive win is yet to come, as they lost 3 1/2 to 1 1/2 to Kialla. Next match is at Kialla playing Valley View Gums.
